Not much to report

Yesterday was kinda boring. So, I will just write and say hello.

Do a little dance, make a little love go gluten free, go gluten free

So, this whole gluten free thing is tricky. But I bought a bunch of veggies, cut them up, and put them in individual servings in plastic baggies. I brought that to work with prepackaged tuna steaks and fruit, and this is my daily foods to eat from.

It's really hard to think of all the things I will have to stop and think about not putting in my mouth and eating before I do. Like yesterday, there was some cookies sitting out and I took one, without thinking, and started eating it. It wasn't until the cookie was gone that it dawned on me, DUH NO GLUTEN.

The dairy thing will be tricky, because I loves me some cheese and sour cream. But so far the chocolate soy milk was a hit with bf, who was a total baby about the switch over. We also found an almond milk last night and he totally digs it. The biggest problem is that the almond milk is low in protein. So I think he's gonna have to mix the soy and almond for awhile.

Eating and working out went great yesterday. I weighed myself today and I'm almost down 10 complete pounds. Whoot! GOOOOOOOOOO ME! 17 minute jog tonight. Whoooooooohoooooo!

The family comes in from Michigan tomorrow, so my challenge will be to stay on track, off gluten, and off dairy with them around. I always revert to my bad childhood eating habits when I am around the fam-damily. But still excited to see them.

Monday...BACK ON TRACK

All the milk and cheese is gone. And I have to say, I love chocolate soy milk. Yeah, it does have a lot of sugar and carbs, but for right now it will really help the transition process. Got a lot of books from the local library, and my education process is still going well. I'm a sucker for protein bars, an easy morning on the go option, so now I am going to work on my own recipe to make a gluten free, chalk full of nuts, option. Eating went well yesterday, and so did my run. I will be really excited when I reach my 30 mins milestone. Yeah, I know, jogging for 30 mins straight might not be a big deal for most people, but coming back from a year of NO exercising and a back problem, 30 minutes will be a reason to celebrate.

Falling Off the Wagon

No only did I fall off, but was dragged to the point of being a bloody corpse.

In short, no working out Friday (which was planned), Saturday, or Sunday. And eating any and everything I wanted. Trying not to beat myself up, and trying to get back on board. I gotta get control of my weekends.

Advice?

Outside run

So last night was BEAUTIFUL. Like the best night of the summer. No humidity, light breeze, low sunlight, but still warm. So I decided to foresake the gym and go outside for a run. I can't pace myself for sh*t outside. I GO-GO-GO-GO in the beginning, and poop out near the end. I cooled down well afterwards, but DAMN I am sore today.

Also, big props. I decided not to make dinner last night, and we ordered in pizza. I got a salad and light dressing and ate only 1 slice of pizza. I don't think that has EVER happened in all my life, NOT EVEN AS A CHILD.

I still managed to stick to my WW points. I know I messed up early in the week, but I've been good the rest of the week, doing all my workouts and eat all (and not exceeding) my points. I hope I drop some weight, if not I will cry.

Goals

Yesterday I put my workout calendar together. It's a tool that helps me stay accountable and assists in making sure I am always challenging myself. I tried to include items in there that will help me stay motivated.

I wrote when I would start running 5ks, half marathons, and start training for the 2010 Chicago marathon. I told my boyfriend, who sometimes gets in the way of working out, that my calendar is now more important than him.

It really helped. Last night I made risotte for dinner, and even though I wasn't done cooking/eating/working out it was 8:30. But at 9 (needed digestion time) I got dressed and drove to the gym. It was another AMAZING workout. Whoot! Go me!

I've never read anything about using steep inclines and their benefits for cardio health, but I've started mixining in it on running and cross training days and WOW! I can't believe it. My heart rate gets going, but I don't feel like I can't breath. So, I'll have to keep doing this and let you know how it pays off.

That's it for now.

Day 1-Again

So a year and a half ago I started running and doing Weight Watchers. Everything was going great! I was three pounds away from goal weight, and then.....I had to get a second job. Before I knew it I was working 80 hours a week and was working or driving to work between 6am-10:30pm. I let go over working out.

Soon I gained some weight, and then some turned into a lot. I gained all my weight back and then an additional 20 pounds. I topped off at 201. This was the biggest I had ever been. It totally blew my mind. I had never thought I would weight this.

Well, after focusing on getting back on track for three months, I started working out and doing Weight Watchers. Progress has been slow and after four weeks of doing the program I'm down six pounds.

Now, I'm trying to refocus. I want to get back into running, and hope to do my local marathon in 2010. That is the BIG, long term goal. I'd like to get down to 140. But since, when I do work out, I tend to get bulky with muscle, I might have to change that goal to a set of measurements.

So this is where I will come to write my success and failures. If you happen to stumble across it, cool. I hope people will visit and come and share. If not, this is my space to come and let it flow out.
